Skipper Large Keelboat

Learn the knowledge & skills for longer distance and overnight sailing in diverse conditions. A comprehensive sailing course for beginner to intermediate sailors wanting to advance their skills for multi-day and overnight cruising.


This course includes:

  • 4 days of on-the-water practical with emphasis on skipper training, sailboat systems and basic navigation
  • NauticEd online theory course (approx. 20 hours to complete prior to starting on-the-water training.)

Dockside or Liveaboard?

Liveaboard Training

Dockside training is conducted in Vancouver's English Bay over 4 consecutive days. 


We prepare the boat in the morning, learn about sailboat cruising during the day, with a lunch at anchor. We return to the dock at the end of the day. 


This course is suitable for those who cannot be away from home for a multi-day trip.

Liveaboard Training is a 4 day course transiting from one harbour to another. 


Students live aboard the boat with stops at anchorages and marinas in Howe Sound. 


Living and learning aboard is suitable for those who can take time off for a multi-day cruise and learn.
